The social activism of the 20th century fueled the production of theories that form the tradition of Latin American feminist philosophy as well as its place in the academy. However, the study of Latin American feminist philosophy remains scarce and derelict . The existence of Latin American feminist philosophers has been largely denied, and the specificities of their theoretical contributions have been erased under the sexist, Eurocentric orientation of philosophy. Recognition of their existence is a political act that contests the dominant architecture of the history of philosophy. Taking account of Latin American feminist philosophy requires a historical and philosophical reconstruction that understands the fact that women from Latin America and the Caribbean have long been thinkers. Overall women find MA acceptable even though it might not be their first choice if they had the possibility to select between surgical or medical methods.
